Sahit Di Sewa - Sewapanthi Granths

The works of Bhai Sehaj Ram

Parchi Bhai Kanhaiyya Ji
Parchi Bhai Sewa Ram Ji
Parchi Bhai Adhan Shah Ji Ki

Bhai Sehaj Ram was a contemporary of Bhai Kanhayya, Bhai Sewa Ram and Bhai Adhan Shah, born in 1673 in Noorpur Thal. He became a shish of Baba Sewa Ram when he was still in his teens, and later composed ‘parchian’, meaning an ‘introduction’ and ‘anecdote’ about the lives and teachings of early Sewapanthis mahapurush.

The first three Parchian consist of saakhis about the life and teachings of the first three Sewapanthi leaders.

Sakhian Bhai Adhan Shah ji
Sakhian Bhai Adhan Shah ji is a collection of saakhis about Baba ji recorded during his stay in Lahore. Gobind Singh Lamba authored an edition in 1973.

Parchiaan Fakeeran Dian
Parchian Fakeeran Dian is an interesting text and very much in keeping with Bhai Adhan Shah’s mindset, narrating teaching stories about famous historical Sufi fakeers, including ‘Mansoor’ al-Hallaj, Rabi’a the early female Sufi among others. Discussion is also given of important spiritual virtues. Al-Hallaj has always been a controversial figure in the Sufi world for his claim of ‘ana-l’haq’ – I am the Truth – which was received as blasphemy in his day, and was subsequently killed.

The matrydom of 'Mansoor' al-Hallaj the influencial Sufi saint

Pothi Asavarian
Pothi Asavarian, is a compilation of the compositions of those Sewapanthi Sants that sang in divans in Asavari raag, coupled with their accompanying discourse. It is worth noting also that Bhai Sehaj Ram was also an accomplished kirtani also.
